About Me

After graduating from university in 2018 I decided that I would continue the path of lifelong learning. Though this time it would be different, I wouldn’t be forced to study materials my program or parents had decided for me, in turn, I would learn what I wanted to learn.

I’m a Canadian-born Chinese (CBC) who embarked on my journey of learning mandarin in 2019 with minimal ability to speak Cantonese and below elementary level mandarin. When I was still in elementary school, I was forced to attend weekend mandarin classes, which I now regret not taking it seriously. Back then, it was just another time to fool around with other kids. However, now that I’ve grown up as a therapist in a predominately Asian community, I started to realize how important mandarin was.

At the start, I could only say 一 (1),二 (2),三 (3) to 十 (10) if spoken in order, 谢谢 (thanks), 再见 (bye). I thought that if I could learn Cantonese through TVB, I could probably do the same with mandarin.

After graduating I decided to immerse myself in mandarin - listening to mandarin music and watching mandarin shows.

I decided to create this website at the beginning of 2021. Whenever I watched a show, I would take notes as I went. When I found something I thought was interesting I would bother my brother just to show him. This website is how I would like to share that experience with others and grow as a drama lover and language learner.
